QuadTech Celebrates the Sale of the 5000th MultiCam®

Print Industry Leader Achieves Another Milestone

Sussex, WI--29 May 2008--QuadTech, Inc. today marked another milestone in a company history rife with innovation and growth.  The world’s pre-eminent designer and manufacturer of automated print controls announced the sale of its 5000th Multicam to Zhejiang Shengyuan Printing Company, a Chinese firm that is part of the larger Hangzhou Newspaper Group.

Zhejiang Shengyuan will utilize the MultiCam in conjunction with both the QuadTech Register Guidance System and the QuadTech Ribbon Control system.  The breakthrough camera technology will minimize the run waste normally associated with makeready, startups, stops, tension upsets and splices.  Further, its unique OptiGuard™ device will keep the camera’s optics clean for extended periods, minimizing maintenance downtime.

“We invested in QuadTech equipment for reliability, productivity and affordability,” said Zhang Shao Heng, General Manager of Zhejiang Shengyaun.  “QuadTech delivered on all three counts.”

The sale of the 5000th MultiCam represents an emerging relationship between QuadTech and Zhejiang Shengyuan that promises to realize the market potential that many major press manufacturers see in China.  Asian newspapers and commercial printers are working to improve color quality and the number of color pages.  The market is very cost conscious and yet strives to adopt the latest technology.  QuadTech’s strong presence and ties in China have met those needs with the MultiCam register technology.

“Partnering with Zhejiang Shengyaun is an important step toward QuadTech’s goal of reinforcing our position as the print industry’s global technology leader,” said Karl Fritchen, President of QuadTech.  “By offering high quality products like the MultiCam and establishing a close bond with customers like Zhejiang Shengyuan, we will meet the demands of the market in China.”

MultiCam technology searches for register marks at an industry-leading 30 times per second.  These search rates are critical during web tension upsets, a time when register control is most important.  Further, the MultiCam requires minimal mounting and electrical hardware for easy installation and combines unmatched performance with the flexibility needed to meet the most demanding press requirements.
