QuadTech Enhances Its Color Control System, Launches New SpectralCam Scanner™ for Drupa 2008

Offers New Colorimetric Reporting Option

Sussex, WI--29 May 2008--With the understanding that increasingly price-sensitive markets make ongoing productivity improvements mandatory for commercial printers, QuadTech, Inc. today announced it will showcase a new SpectralCam scanner for use with its Color Control System at Drupa 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The SpectralCam scanner delivers accurate L*a*b* and Densitometric measurements from micro-colorbars as small as 1.6mm high. Unlike the traditional point-source sensors used by many printers today, the SpectralCam is capable of capturing 10-15 patches with a single snap of the camera. This enables the QuadTech Color Control System to make quick and accurate ink-key adjustments for excellent color consistency.

“Today’s pressrooms are expected to achieve perfect proof-to-product color reproduction efficiently and at a reasonable cost,” said Karl Fritchen, President of QuadTech.  “The unrivaled capabilities of the QuadTech Color Control System with Instrument Flight and SpectralCam allow printers to accomplish that and more.”

The combination of QuadTech’s new SpectralCam sensor technology and the new Data Central Colorimetric Reporting option lets you accurately measure and verify L*a*b*, TVI and other critical print data – providing printers with the ability to easily monitor the consistency of their process and document compliance to ISO 12647-2 and other print industry standards. With the introduction of SpectralCam, QuadTech offers the only inline color control system to provide both L*a*b* and Instrument Flight gray balance control.

The Instrument Flight control algorithm evaluates more than 30 different print attributes, with an emphasis on three-color gray balance and mid-tone dot gain. Instrument Flight is available on the QuadTech system through a mutual partnership with System Brunner.

QuadTech will be exhibiting during Drupa which runs May 29, 2008 through June 11, 2008.  Visit QuadTech in Hall 17, Stand B40, and see what makes it an industry leader in press control technology.
