Spot Press Chooses QuadTech Auxilaries

Sussex, WI--August 2006--Spot Press PTY LTD, based in Australia, has invested in the QuadTech® Register Guidance System with MultiCam®, the QuadTech® Ribbon Control System with MultiCam® and QuadTech® Data Central®, all integrated through the QuadTech® ICON™ platform. Spot Press offers heatset and coldset web offset printing of newspapers, magazines and catalogues. The equipment, installed on the company’s Goss Magnum press is an integral part of its goal to win more color work.

The decision to purchase the equipment came as a response to the demand for more color in newspapers and magazines in Australia. Dimitri Georgantzakos, Technology Manager of Spot Press explains, “There has been a dramatic increase in color content in newspapers and magazines over the past few years. Our aim was to enhance colour capacity while still delivering the finished product to our customers within the same time frame. Doing this without a significant increase in costs is vital in our competitive market. Investing in the QuadTech press controls means that we can achieve this.”

Mr. Georgantzakos also predicts that the equipment will significantly enhance his company’s productivity and profitability: “The QuadTech equipment will assist in improving our make-ready times and reduce our waste dramatically. The colour register controls will also save us money by increasing customer satisfaction, reducing reimbursements and the need for reprints.”

One of the main reasons Spot Press chose QuadTech was the convenience of being able to integrate all of the systems together, alongside the press. Mr Georgantzakos explains, “Thanks to the ICON™ Platform, the products are integrated seamlessly with the Goss console. This also means that cabling to each individual registration motor is not needed; this is another area where we save on cost.”

Decreasing the need for maintenance was also high on Spot Press’ list of priorities. Mr. Georgantzakos was particularly impressed with the MultiCam® in this respect: “The strobe LEDs that are used as the lighting source last around ten years. Other systems on the market use conventional light bulbs that require higher maintenance. Optional extras such as QuadTech OptiGuard—which sends compressed air to each camera, keeping the glass clean from ink mist and dust—also helps keep maintenance to a minimum.”

Mr. Georgantzakos concludes: “We are very happy to be working with QuadTech. Many other companies in our region are currently using QuadTech equipment, and feedback has been excellent. Moreover, QuadTech has a proven track record in the market and I am sure that the company will maintain its strong position, along with the valuable local support it provides.”
