Biegelaar Invests In QuadTech Register Guidance Technology

Sussex, WI--June 2005--Biegelaar, one of the leading Dutch gravure printers, has boosted its business with the purchase of QuadTech® Autotron™ 2200 Gravure Register Guidance Systems. Installed on Biegelaar’s two KBA presses, the upgrades have meant a dramatic and positive change for the Maarssen-based company.

General Manager, J. Geitenbeek, explains, “The reason we went with the Autotron™ Gravure 2200 was its tried and tested technology. In terms of waste reduction and time saving, it can’t be beaten. We decided to replace our existing systems as it was becoming increasingly difficult to get spare parts, which is just as well because the improvement in quality from the Autotron™ Gravure 2200 is remarkable.”

The Autotron™ Gravure 2200 has the benefit of several unique patented systems, including high-speed electronic mark recognition that finds register marks within a few revolutions. This feature ensures the user incurs minimum waste while producing a product of the highest quality. The optional ribbon control also reduces waste copies, but has the added advantage of minimizing bleed-page problems and general print misalignment as well as costly folder jams and downtime.

Mr Geitenbeek continues, “Tiny mistakes cost companies like ourselves valuable time and money. The fact that the Autotron™ Gravure 2200 is so precise when it comes to detecting errors at all stages of print operation gives us tremendous peace of mind that we are meeting the expectations of our clients.”

With time such an important factor, the smooth transition from the old to new equipment was very well received, as Mr Geitenbeek testifies, “Because the QuadTech engineers installed the new systems so quickly it meant that interruption to production was kept to a bare minimum. The advance training given by QuadTech was also a huge bonus and helped our staff to be ready to go as soon as installation was completed.”

Biegelaar’s clients span a wide range of industries. The company’s work comes from the retail sector, notably Makro, Intergamma and cosmetic giant Kruidvat. Biegelaar also produces magazines like Prive, the largest magazine in Holland the Kampioen and leading listings guide TV Weekeinde.

Mr Geitenbeek concludes, “Of course, we are always looking to expand our current client base. In the current climate, I believe that the purchase of superior equipment, like the Autotron™ Gravure 2200, will give us the edge over our competitors and deliver a better quality of service to our customers, ensuring that they return to us again and again.”
